Historical Bible Facsimiles and Reprints

Many historical English Bible versions are being made available through the Bible Reader’s Museum project. Visit the store at Store.BibleReadersMuseum.com. Currently available are Wycliffe (Forshall & Madden 4 volume edit ion), Tyndale (1525 fragment, 1534 NT, Pentateuch and Jonah), Coverdale (1535, 1538 Illustrated NT, 1538 Latin/English Diglot), Taverner's Bible (1539), Great Bible (1540), Whittingham (1557 NT), Geneva (1560, 1599), Bishop's (1568), Rhemes NT (1582), Do uay Old Testament (1610), The Psalmes of King David Translated by King James (1631), Authorised with Geneva Notes (1672), English Revised Version of 1885, and many others.

Bible facsimiles are exact copies of the original. They are made using either a scanner or a digital camera setup. They often show errors due to scanning or deterioration of the originals. Bible text reprints are done in a word processor. They are done in modern print fonts so do not have flaws due to the condition of the originals.

The Bibles published by EEBO Editions, ProQuest and Gale ECCO, Print Editions are hard copies of their electronic editions available online by subscription. I have not yet seen any of their publications. However, I have been told that they can vary greatly in quality. The print size is 7.5 x 9.75 inches. There may be text loss, faint text, text loss in the gutters, etc. Some Bibles, such as the Blayney edition are fairly good prints with only some loss of the margin al notes in the gutter.
